The annual fee of $695 is steep (see Rates and Fees), but if you’re serious about global dining experiences, the dining and non-dining benefits may outweigh that cost.

What you will have at the restaurant: This card is really about the access you get. It only gets you one point per dollar spent on dining, but you can always use a more rewarding card once you’ve secured that window-side table and sunset view.

Other advantages : The AmEx Platinum is one of the best credit cards for travel for a reason. He earns five points for every dollar spent on hotels and airfares booked through AmEx’s travel portal, and on airfares booked directly with airlines. It also gives you TSA PreCheck/Global Entry and CLEAR for free, plus loads of annual credits like $200 to spend on hotels, $200 on airline incidentals, $240 on digital subscriptions, $200 on Uber and UberEats, and more (registration required, conditions apply).

For those days when you prefer your meal to come to you, there’s the Chase Sapphire Preferred. It currently comes with a free DashPass membership with DoorDash, which lets you get free deliveries on eligible takeout orders and lower service charges on the app. (You must register for this benefit by March 31.) Plus, the card has a reasonable annual fee of $95.

What you will have at the restaurant: Chase recently improved the earn rate of this dining card: it now earns you three points per dollar spent on restaurant dining worldwide, with no earn cap.

Other advantages : You also get three points per dollar on groceries purchased online and some streaming services, and two points per dollar on regular travel expenses; and five points per dollar spent on travel purchases through the Chase Ultimate Rewards portal (plus a $50 annual resort credit). All other qualifying purchases earn one point per dollar.
