Looks like there are light potential drama with Prince William and Kate Middleton’s planned move to Adelaide Cottage in Windsor, which they hope to settle in by this summer.
According to The daily mail, the Queen’s disgraced son Prince Andrew (who lives close to the Royal Lodge) had his eye on Adelaide Cottage for his daughter, Princess Eugenie, who lives with her husband, Jack Brooksbank, and their son, August, at Frogmore Cottage. (Reminder: Frogmore Cottage is Duchess Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s UK home, which they lent to Princess Eugenie).
Sources ‘close to the Yorks’ say The daily mail that Eugenie “had tried to secure Adelaide Cottage for some time before leaving Frogmore”, and that “before Andrew’s latest scandal it was definitely a property he was [also] trying to get for his daughter.
The publication notes that it’s unclear if Eugenie is still interested in the cottage, but “there’s no doubt” the Cambridges (who have several direct heirs to the throne in their family) would get the top pick.
Meanwhile, a source previously said The sun that for Prince William and Kate Middleton, “finding a way to make Adelaide Cottage work seems like the best and only option. There are problems with all the other houses, so Adelaide will be the favorite.
FYI, Adelaide is only a ten minute walk from the Queen and was once home to Princess Margaret’s ~lover~ party captain, Peter Townsend. Since then it has been used as a “grace and favour” residence, which Merriam-Webster says is “a dwelling granted rent-free (as on a deposit) by the English Royal Household”.
