Live from AIR11: big fire ravages Carteret, NJ apartment complex

CARTERET, NJ – Crews are at the scene of a large fire at an apartment complex in New Jersey.

Few details of the blaze were available, although officials said the blaze had reached three alarms and mutual aid had been requested.

Teams battled the fire at 90 Block of Beverly Street and urged people to avoid the area. The building is listed as Bristol Station Apartments.

Carteret officials issued the following statement:

The Carteret Fire Department is on site at the Bristol Station complex responding to a structural fire in Building 4 adjacent to Beverly Street. Mutual aid from the participating cities has been sent and is also on site. It is expected that emergency activities will continue in the area for some time as they struggle to put out the blaze and secure the building.

Residents are encouraged to avoid the area to allow access for emergency personnel.

We pray for the safety of all first responders and building residents.
