As one of the most popular shows on British television, Love Island has repeatedly attracted millions of viewers who revel in watching hugely attractive people trying to find love in a shockingly gorgeous villa.
It’s been such a hit that there are now Australian and US editions.
The show has been a TV staple since 2015, although what many don’t know is that the ITV phenom actually began its journey with Celebrity Love Island in 2005. However, that only lasted a single series.
Each season of the current edition features around 20 new contestants that audiences can love, hate or be completely apathetic to, with the winning couple taking home £50,000.
Typically, contestants accumulate hundreds of thousands of subscribers since their time on the show.
However, the most successful entries, like the Molly-Mae Hague couple and Tommy Fury, can bring in over $10 million.
Given the influence of the Love Island villa, it’s no surprise that so many people are asking where it is this year.
Where is the Love Island villa?
Having previously been filmed in the Mallorcan town of Ses Salines, the show is now hosted at another villa in Sant Llorenc des Cardassar, Mallorca.
The new location is obviously no less lavish than its predecessor.
This year’s villa features a few minor changes, but retains many of the basic elements that viewers have come to know and love. The massive bedroom has had a layout update with beds that are no longer arranged in a long row, but are now facing each other for a more ‘common’ feel.
The “dog-house”, a special folding bed in the living room for candidates who are not in the good books with their partner, still exists.
The producers rent out rather than own the property, so for those wishing to replicate the Love Island lifestyle, it is theoretically possible for you to rent the villa
Although it is very expensive and is under producers’ mandate for the vast majority of the summer months.
