South Carolina’s Top Rated Travel Host is in Mount Pleasant

Guests planning a trip to this Old Village apartment will have South Carolina’s best Airbnb host, officials said.

South Carolina’s top Airbnb host offers guests a modern apartment in historic surroundings, according to a new report.

the Mount Pleasant Retreat won the highest honor last week after short-term rental company Airbnb said the property received some of the highest ratings in the country. The space is in the Old Village, a neighborhood along Charleston Harbor with roots dating back to the 1700s.

In this historic setting, the winning Airbnb describes itself as a location with up-to-date functionality. The listing – called “Newer Apt in Old Village Mins to Beach / Downtown” – also touts its closure close to Folly Beach, Charleston and other popular destinations.

“EVERYTHING inside is modern and was purchased new and installed, fitted and decorated in July 2018,” the listing states. “It has everything you need like at home. All you need to bring is a beach towel / chair, your clothes, a toothbrush, and paste.

Apartment owner Perry Fant IV said his family built the apartment themselves and that his wife decorated the space.

“My wife and I have never tried to outdo or outdo anyone,” Fant said, according to WCIV. “We really love being able to host guests and being able to share this awesome place we call home with others. “

To determine which Airbnb locations offer the best hospitality in each US state, the company said “Hosts must have achieved 100% 5-star ratings” for “cleanliness, check-in and communication.”

Airbnb said scores need to come from at least 100 guests. If a state had more than one winner, recognition went to the list that had the most criticism.

This isn’t the first time that a place in the Charleston area has been named one of the best places to stay.

Earlier this month, Yelp recognized Water’s Edge Inn in Folly Beach as South Carolina’s best bed and breakfast, McClatchy News reported.

The lists were released as more Americans get vaccinated against COVID-19. After facing some difficulties at the start of the Coronavirus pandemic, the travel industry is showing signs of recovery.

“Great hosts have always been the lifeblood of our community,” Airbnb said in a press release. “Great hospitality – especially qualities such as cleanliness and safety – has taken on even greater importance in the midst of the pandemic. “
