The Conjuration (2013)

Paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren work to help a family terrorized by a dark presence on their farm. From “Saw” and “Aquaman” director James Wan, it has become an instant horror classic for die-hard fans of the genre. Stars Vera Farmiga, Patrick Wilson and Lili Taylor.

Creep (2014)

A young videographer answers an ad online for a one-day job in a remote town to record the last messages of a dying man. When he notices the man’s strange behavior, he begins to question his intentions. Patrick Brice (who also wrote and directed) and Mark Duplass are the stars of this found images film which certainly puts “Creep” in goose bumps.

Crimson Woodpecker (2015)

In the aftermath of a family tragedy, an aspiring author is torn between love for her childhood friend and the temptation of a mysterious stranger in Guillermo del Toro’s gothic ghost romance with Mia Wasikowska, Jessica Chastain and Tom Hiddleston.

The Exorcist III (1990)

George C. Scott plays a police station who uncovers more than he anticipated in his investigation of a series of murders, which have all the hallmarks of the deceased Gemini serial killer and lead him to interview patients of a psychiatric service. Contains what many consider to be one of the all-time best jump scares in horror history.

Insidious: Chapter 2 (2013)

The Lambert’s believe they’ve vanquished the spirits that haunt their family, but they soon find that evil isn’t vanquished so easily in the sequel to “Saw” and “The Conjuring” director James Wan.

He Comes at Night (2017)

When an unnatural threat terrorizes the world, a man established a tenuous domestic order with his wife and son, before a desperate young family arrived seeking refuge in their desolate home. From director Trey Edward Shults comes this psychological horror film starring Joel Edgerton, Christopher Abbott and Carmen Ejogo.

Jaws (1975)

When a killer shark unleashes chaos at a seaside resort, it’s up to a local sheriff, marine biologist, and old sailor to hunt down the beast in Steven Spielberg’s classic blockbuster. The greatest movie of all time? It’s up there. The new film created a greater sense of dread, especially upon its release. When a movie scares people to even dip a toe in the ocean, it’s damn scary. All three suites are also on Netflix if you want the thrill for less.

Raw (2016)

A young woman, a veterinary medicine student, develops a desire for human flesh in Julia Ducournau’s acclaimed thriller starring Garance Marillier and Ella Rumpf.

Sinister (2012)

A true failed criminal writer (Ethan Hawke) finds a box of Super 8 family movies in his new home that suggests the murder he’s currently seeking is the work of a serial killer with a legacy dating back to the 1960s. From “Doctor Strange” director Scott Derrickson.

Strangers (2008)

Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman play a young couple staying in a secluded vacation home who are soon terrorized by three unknown assailants. Disturbing but highly regarded home invasion film from director Bryan Bertino.

Without friend (2014)

A group of friends in the online chat room find themselves haunted by a mysterious and supernatural force using their deceased friend’s account. It may sound dumber than stupid, but in the age of COVID, a video chat horror movie looks more unsettling than ever. And the critics kind of dug it.
